Building at scale (2012 to 2022)
Ten years at Axpo were spent building its renewable energy business from the ground up, across four pillars: solar, wind, batteries and hydrogen.
Entrepreneurial roots (2006 to 2012)
Co-founded the company South Pole, today a global leader in climate solutions, and built it as CEO and Chairman from five people to a few hundred employees. South Pole and the foundation myclimate both are spin-offs of Christoph's Ph.D. research at ETHZ.
Learning the machine (2005/2006)
McKinsey taught important business tools and how large organisations and its top management think, and how slowly they sometimes move.
Learning the ropes (1993 to 2004)
Christoph had the privilege to experience a balanced theoretical and practical education: He studied environmental sciences at ETH while constructing solar community kitchens in India and Switzerland in parallel. Later he conducted his Ph.D. research on sustainability assessment of climate change projects in parallel to working as a consultant with First Climate.
Lighting the passion (1985)
At age of twelve, touring with a children circus, Christoph watched researches doing solar energy field experiments — the passion for solar energy was lighted and so long never faded away.
